Charnelle has had over a decade of experience in the nonprofit and international development sectors. She is a passionate advocate for equity, inclusion, sustainable impact and advancing social change.
She has held a key role at Tides, where she contributed to initiatives addressing diverse issues. In her studies, she has gone out of her way to discuss initiatives with communities, conduct interviews that spotlight powerful stories and with this has authored blogs such as “Kara Bobroff is Reimagining Indigenous Education and Creating Sustainable Solutions for Indigenous Communities” and “The Key to Solving Our Most Pressing Environmental Issues: Powerful Networks and Collective Action.”
Her commitment to transformative change extends beyond the written word. She was awarded the Chuck Green Fellowship by Macalester College and had the opportunity to work with the Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota to develop a refugee resettlement program for Congolese refugees. Here, she worked on increasing capacity for the settlement, working with partnered sponsors and others to provide services such as mentorship, a community and orientation programs to those who need it.
Having studied and worked in multiple countries, she brings a global perspective to issues of poverty reduction, community development, and leadership cultivation.
