We take great joy in seeing more girls enrolled in school. We promote girls' school enrollment through community awareness campaigns and one-on-one conversations with parents, encouraging them to send and keep their daughters in school. For instance, if a girl faces the threat of being withdrawn from school by her parents, we will speak directly to them to convince them to keep her in school. We also give out free school kits to reduce the cost of going to school.
For teenage mothers aged 12 to 19 who have had to leave school due to teenage pregnancies, we offer a one-year vocational training program in agriculture. The curriculum also includes literacy classes, certifications, and reproductive health education. Our goal is to equip these young mothers with practical skills and knowledge to achieve financial independence and comprehensive literacy.
Recognizing teenage pregnancies as a major barrier to girls’ continued education, we provide comprehensive reproductive health education as well as education on birth planning and access to contraception to young girls, empowering them to make informed choices about their health. This reduces unwanted teenage pregnancies and helps keep girls in school, considerably reducing school dropout.
As an organization led by a young girl, we believe those facing challenges are best equipped to identify solutions. This drives us to prioritize listening and engage with young girls to understand their needs. We co-design all our programs with them, ensuring their voices are integral to the development process. Ongoing feedback mechanisms help us assess effectiveness and make timely improvements to better meet their needs.
