An Afternoon of Music, Hope, and Empowerment: A Benefit Concert for Change
Join us for an event to connect music-lovers and grassroots organizers: The Autumn Afternoon benefit concert featuring essential musicians of the Northampton area.
This program is hosted by us: The Smithie-led nonprofit organization. The benefit concert profits will go directly towards building a Residential Vocational Shelter for teenage mothers and their children who have been expelled from their homes. With this safe place, these women will raise their children in a welcoming home, and the girls will be able to pursue their studies and vocational education giving them both confidence and independence.
There will be raffle tickets available for a possibility of winning certificates and coupons from local businesses and restaurants.Any dditional donations or gifts are encouraged and appreciated.
Performers include Kimaya Diggs, Hazel Basil, A Glezele Tey, The Lonesome Brothers, and Pamela Means, alongside two Smith A Cappella groups: The Smith College Vibes the Smiffenpoofs.
We hope that this afternoon brings to the Northampton community a time to appreciate how Northampton’s lively culture of local collaboration and advocacy ever encourages students to practice their activism– in this case, allowing us to transform the lives of hundreds of young women and girls 5,500 miles away in rural Cameroon.
Every ticket, every raffle entry, and every donation brings us closer to giving teenage mothers in Cameroon the safe home they deserve. We invite you to stand with us, sing with us, and help turn the power of community into lasting change.
