Trained 350 students as Peer Mentors in Reproductive Health Education.

We are excited to announce our successful visit to the Nkondjock Community in West Cameroon.

In 2024, our team traveled to Nkondjock with a clear mission: to strengthen reproductive health education for teens and young adults. In many local communities, young people are left to navigate sensitive topics: such as puberty, consent, and contraception, on their own. This lack of support often results in early and unwanted pregnancies, misinformation, and school dropouts. Added to this, studies show that young people are far more likely to open up to their peers than to adults, especially on subjects considered sensitive or taboo.

To reach our goal on improving reproductive health awareness: we needed to be innovative and Empower the youths. Thus, we launched a Peer Mentorship Program designed to meet the youths where they are.

In Nkondjock, we trained 350 students to become Peer Health Mentors: young leaders equipped with the knowledge and confidence to guide conversations on reproductive health. Through this model, students build trust, reduce misinformation, and promote informed decision-making for themselves but also among their peers.

To reinforce this youth-led effort, we also trained 25 teachers and school Nurses in Nkonjock: in effective, non-judgmental communication. Our focus was on creating safe, shame-free spaces where students feel heard, respected, and supported. This was because we believe the teachers and nurses are a support system to the students.

The enthusiasm we witnessed from students, staff, and the broader community was truly inspiring. We saw curiosity, leadership, and a willingness to learn clear signs that we are planting seeds of lasting change.

By equipping youth and their support systems with knowledge and tools, we are doing more than just delivering education, we are helping shape a future where young people make informed choices, stay in school, and lead with confidence.
